Scavenger Hunt
As part of the Truth and Reconciliation Relay, we have partnered with Rainbow Routes to bring you a fun way to get out and log your km’s. This is a great opportunity to get out with family, friends, and co-workers and discover the beauty of N’Swakamok (Sudbury).
This scavenger hunt, which was adapted from a similar initiative at Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre, will have rocks painted with the seven grandfather teachings hidden across 17 routes around the city. Chi-Miigwech to the secondary students from the Rainbow School Board for painting the grandfather rocks!
These rocks have been coded with the ‘What3Words’ location app. You can download this free app to help you find the rocks here:
what3words is the easiest way to describe any precise location. It has divided the world into 3m squares and given each one a unique identifier made from three words. Every 3m square in the world has been given a what3words address. The system is fixed and will never change, so what3words can be used reliably offline, without a data connection. If you do not have access to a smart phone, we have also pinned the locations with Google Maps. You can print a copy and take it with you to help you find the rocks.
Once you find your rocks, take a selfie with it and upload it to this page to be entered into a draw for a prize! Each selfie with a new rock gives you another entry into the draw. We ask that you leave the rocks where you found them, so that others can enjoy the hunt as well.
